Eternity

As the ages sweep past, did he doubt his choice, to extend his life beyond that of reason?

To breath long enough to see stars rise and fall? To watch long enough to observe mountains ground to dust.

It had seemed simple enough, administer the virus into his blood stream and kiss his fear of age goodbye.

For a long time many of those around him had rallied against such an action. 'What of your loved ones?' they had cried.

'The procedure is simple, for those who would wish it I would happily administer it.'

'And those who do not with it?'

' Then that is their choice, and though I would attempt to convince them as I would any with thoughts of suicide it is ultimately their decision to make.'

'But what of nature, dare you to break it's rules?'

'I am not the first to break such rules, by rights nature rules that a mammal's life is determined by it's size and it's heart beat, by nature's ruling man should live to 45, Medicine does not adhere to that rule now and I would not seek to either.'

'So you forsake nature's rules?'

'Man has sought to forsake nature's rule since the first fire was lit to stave off the cold, since the first torch was lit to see into the dark. Man has always sought to protect itself from harm, be it from the cold, the dark or age. This is merely the next and final step.'

'And what of boredom? Once you have seen the stars fall and the kingdom's of men burn?'

'I would seek, as my new self to watch and live as humanity, should I one day feel that I have seen all it has to offer I would end my life. But I do not think such a task is possible.'

'And what of God?'

'I would hope that through my eternal eyes that I would grow to a greater appreciation of his works, to truely see what his wishs for this world and enact my will to suit his purpose.'

'And if he care's not for you everlasting plans?'

'Should God feel that my death would greater suit his plan for betterment of the Universe he has merely to ask.'

And so it was with these questions answered that he began his works.

And thus began the new and long life of Lysander Ledge.
