Influenza

And so it was that he awoke, a demon in the night without soul or spirit
trapped in this world of men stripped of all that he once held and
yet he did not worry did not wonder at his predicament for he dealt
with this setback before indeed a thousand times since the dawn of
creation, he would rise once more a shadow of humanity a beast to be
feared and worshipped . his mortal form was weak, without merit, not
worthy of such a presence. The battle had been harsh, a fierce
collision of wills and one that he would repeat a million times more.

Sam sniffed, his cold was getting worse, draining his very soul from his body. He gazed at the news detailing the cold epidemic sweeping across the city.

“ Preaching to the choir” he said as he switched it off.

Trying to keep his spirits up he walked cheerfully into the surveillance room.
Jim turned around from his monitor covering Dr Coryza’s Laboratory.

“ Sam you’re not supposed to …”

the sound of the silenced bullet was covered up by the sound a loud sneeze.

Sam headed down to the lab.

Danielle

shoved the lozenge pack back in her purse, hoping the soothing throat action would take affect soon. She stood up and carried her things into the centre of the city square. The stand was well built and took her just seconds to assemble. Danielle was lucky, she was still the
beauty she always was, she didn’t have the stuffy eyes, dripping nose or run down look. She mumbled something under her breath about the things she does for love, lifted the sign and tried
to look inviting.

The white and red kissing booth looked quite out of place in the overcast city centre.

At a time where everyone felt cold and alone, business boomed.

Bill

exited the train just before the doors closed on him. He really did have to stop leaving so late. As he climbed the stairs to the city centre he caught a glance of the overcast sky. The news said there was a good chance it would stay the same until the end of the week. Walking across the square he noticed some babe had set up a kissing booth, dollar a kiss. As he was closer heading to his work he did a desperate search though his pockets.

“ Damn, no change” as he pulled back his coat he noticed an elderly lady wide eyed at the sight of his gun strapped to his side. He quickly whipped out his badge to assuage her fears. He glanced at the stand and saw the girl was gone anyway. He turned to get to work only to find her right in front of him just as she planted a huge kiss on him.

“Freebee”

she said with a smile as she slide back to her stand. Bill headed to work with a smile on his face thinking this just might be his lucky day.

“Were the hell have you been?” Jamison was not happy, although this was hardly an unusual occurrence.

“ Sorry, train was late.“ bill managed to stammer out before he was blasted again.
” You think that terrorists are going to stall their plans to keep in line with your lacklustre schedule, listen William get your act together or get out of my unit.”

“sorry boss”

“Don’t just stand there wasting my time and yours, get to work”
Jamison finished and headed over to the next victim of his verbal abuse. Bill made it to his desk
